We graciously asked the office of Minister Edwin Tong (Culture, Community & Youth), who plays a key and active role in the sports community of Singapore. How, who and where we might be able to discuss our project with. We had an immediate response and meeting organised for us at the Singapore Sports Institute the following week.
During the meeting we discussed openly our end goal for the Singapore sports community; even the playing field through qualifying more Technical Officials for the Combat Sports of Singapore, and gained preliminary agreement of $30,000sgd for development of the Muaythai National Federation education platform as part of the SportSG-ED (Education & Development) Grant.
We are very pleased and thankful to the office of Minister Edwin Tong for giving us a direct line to the awesome team at Sport Singapore, who welcomed the idea as an addition to the National sports agenda.
The Singapore Muaythai Federation and World Muaythai Council (Singapore) now have access to the grant, should they wish to go further. It was our hope and intention to demonstrate to National Federations that funding is available, and that we can help with the approach and application for such Education Development Grants within their own home countries.
